Biggar’s Hogmanay Bonfire

Not far from the large, bustling street party Scotland’s capital the small town of Biggar has its own Hogmanay tradition.

The residents of the town have been holding a bonfire on New Year’s Eve for hundreds of years and it is believed to date back to the Pagan times when fire was thought to ward off evil spirits.
